Fun
Outside of the Lord, work and family I have a couple of hobbies that relieve a lot of stress and provides a lot of enjoyment.
As a pre-teen I met a neighbor that was so excited about his “classic” car. The day that he revealed his prized 1959 Porsche 356 I was thoroughly underwhelmed. It was old, dirty, worn and not all that pretty. But there was something about that car that meant so much to him – I had to find out what it was. Over the next several years I new a love affair was brewing. At age 18 I got my first Porsche, a 1972 Orange and Black 914.
For many years I enjoyed my German cars in the VW marque – great cars, but they are not Porsche.
Several years I got a great guards red 944. Sadly a a driver in a hurry totaled it for me. With the insurance money and little extra cash I purchased a 1980 911 Weissach edition. I still have that car and she is a dream to drive (for a 30 year old car).
In 2006 Porsche introduced the Cayman, I resisted the S model for 6 months, but then they released the base model . . .
I love my Cayman.
Forza Motorsports
Several years ago my son introduced me to Forza Motorsports for the Xbox. Being a Porsche fan and a fan of American Le Mans Racing it was natural for me to become immersed in this racing simulator.
Year 1
Xbox 360, Forza Motorsports and the racing wheel.
Year 2
Added a racing seat to mount the wheel to.
Year 3
Built a cabinet to hold the Xbox and TV, and of course a stereo surround system for really good sound effects.
Year 4
2 more Xboxes, 2 more monitors for panoramic view.
Year 5
Repaint, refresh, general clean up
